Z started her entertainment career in elementary school, lip-syncing to a Stevie Wonder ballad in a
school talent show in Texas. After that she was hooked! Feeling it wise to have a fallback career in
case the entertainment thing didn't pan out, she became a doctor of chiropractic practicing for over
30 years in the Santa Cruz area.
Z sung with the Agape International Choir in Los Angeles, the
local band Rio Frio and provided back-up accompaniment for blues legend the late Sista Monica. She
spent three seasons performing in Frank Duncan's Cabaret shows. To hone her vocal skills, Z trained
with Wally Trindade of the famed Wally's Swing World.
Along with band members Dan and Bruce, Z
created the band Gemini Jazz which, along with special local musicians, performed at local wineries,
Ella's at the Airport, the Santa Cruz Chamber Annual Gala and the C.A.S.A. Annual Fundraiser
events.
Z loves all types of music including classic jazz standards, R & B, Latin jazz and
danceable music!!

Dan's foray into music began as a high school junior after receiving a D- on his term
project in ceramics. Realizing the need for a different avenue for artistic expression, he took up
the guitar. Dan's father was a former vocalist in the Lawrence Welk Band and so Dan was immersed in
music from an early age. From Lawrence Welk to Jimi Hendrix to Wes Montgomery was a natural
progression.
As a result, Dan has been playing in various jazz combos in the Santa Cruz area
for over 15 years. He is currently sitting by the phone waiting to hear from Carnegie Hall!

Bruce started playing bass in high school. During his high school days he performed with several
bands playing what is now called classic hard rock. Upon moving to Santa Cruz 40 years ago,
Bruce became an avid jazz fan. He was inspired listening to jazz greats like Charlie Parker and
Billie Holiday. Bruce pursued this interest, studying jazz under Ray Brown at Cabrillo
College.
Since his move to Santa Cruz, Bruce has been a member of many rock, R&B and jazz bands including the
Double Standard band. The Double Standard was the first of many bands he played along with Dan.

Yves started out as a good East Coast boy, taking classical music lessons on piano and clarinet.
However, when he learned saxophone at age 10, he was quickly "corrupted" — abandoning classical
music for jazz. Things grew worse after moving west for college and becoming interested in Latin
music and percussion.
All hope was lost when he moved to Santa Cruz and got into funk and soul. The good news is he found
plenty of other "corrupted" musicians to play with. Yves has played in a number of local groups over
the past ten years including Terminal Degree, Pawn Shop Soul, Hoopty Funk, Modern Marvels, Gemini
Jazz and now Gemini Sol Band.

Bill has always loved the live music experience; pursuing the elusive magic that is created by musicians and audiences when music is invented in the moment. Over the last 20+ years he has focused on performing music in venues around the Central Coast. The jazz canon has it all: beautiful melodies, international rhythms, and universal emotions and it provides a platform for creating inspiring moments "without a net." Bill can also be heard on the JazzTracks program on radio station KSQD Santa Cruz, 90.7 FM and KSQD.org on the second Thursday evening of every month.

Charlie started playing classical piano as a child. His interest in music followed him to UCSD where he received a minors degree in music while reserving some of his time to study electrical engineering. At UCSD he joined the jazz band and became hooked on jazz. In addition to playing for Gemini Sol Band, Charlie can be found playing piano for the Patio Geezers where he enjoys playing instrumental versions of classic bossa nova, swing, and bebop tunes. He also plays piano for singer Bill Nadeau quintet, accompanying Bill and his quintet on classic vocal standards tunes. Charlie is the newest addition to Gemini Sol Band and loves their blend of jazz, R&B, and Latin numbers.
